Two sea turtle nests found early on the island of Cozumel

 

The arrival of sea turtles has already been recorded on the island of Cozumel with the early nesting of two females. On Monday, two nests were discovered on the eastern coast of the Island.

While sea turtle nesting generally begins in mid-May, these nests were found three weeks early. Island environmental officials are asking the public to be aware of early nests, noting that in recent years, the arrival of the sea turtles has been changing.

The Municipal Deputy Director of Ecology, Mauricio Martín Mendoza points out that due to the continued hot weather, local beaches are extremely busy and that people should be aware of the early nesting season. Vessel Oseil and her four crew safely returned to Cozumel

 

 

Four crew and their boat were successfully returned to Cozumel shores after experiencing engine failure. On Monday, four fishermen aboard Osiel were left drifting after the engine of the vessel failed.

Without propulsion, the small fishing boat began to move further away from land. A request for assistance was made to the Harbor Master, who sent the navy in search of the men. Members of the Navy of Mexico responded to their request for help, locating Osiel and its crew approximately 12 nautical miles (22 kilometers) north of Cozumel.

The Secretary of Health announced today, December 8, how the vaccination plan will be and the time it will take to apply the vaccine. vaccination will start with health personnel and subsequently be prioritized according to the level of risk of having severe COVID as it may be age and comorbidities. (The persons at high risk with diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.). it is expected that by the first trimester of 2022 the vaccination of the entire population of the Republic of Mexico will conclude.
