27 cruise ships will arrive in Cozumel in a six-day period

 


The Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), reported the arrival of seven ocean liners at the beginning of the week. The ‘Brilliance Of The Seas’ and the ‘Adventure Of The Seas’ will be docked at the SSA Mexico Terminal. Meanwhile, ‘Vikin Orion’, ‘Norwegian Escape’ and ‘M/S Windsurf’, at the Punta Langosta pier, for which a third berthing band will be used. The ships that will arrive at the Puerta Maya Terminal are the ‘Carnival Breeze’ and the ‘Mardi Gras’.

The arrival of more than five thousand cruise passengers is expected, who will be subject to health protocols.

Many are the passengers who arrive with “all-inclusive” packages, with beach clubs, boat rides or activities on the mainland. An economic spill of more than a million dollars is expected.

National Guard Continue at Cozumel International

 


 

Riviera Maya News reported that National Guard will continue at Cozumel International for time being According to Rigoberto Lira Carrillo, who took office as the new Commander of the airport, the National Guard will continue to provide airport security until the federal government instructs otherwise.

At least seven airports across the country, two of which include Cancun and Cozumel, will see a security detail switch from the National Guard to the Navy. The change has taken place at the Cancun International Airport. However, there is no date set for when that change will be made at the Cozumel International Airport.

No more cruise ships? New Cozumel pier halted by local opposition

 

Environmental activists opposed to the construction of an additional cruise ship pier on the Caribbean Sea island of Cozumel got a first if inconclusive taste of victory this week: a federal judge ordered the provisional suspension of the project.

The preliminary decision came in response to an injunction request filed by a collective succinctly named “No al cuarto muelle,” or “No to the fourth pier.”
