We always recommend that you try before you buy. Rent for a few months and immerse yourself in everyday life before moving. Get a feel for mundane tasks like bill paying and grocery shopping. A benefit of this is you can get a more accurate idea of how much your cost of living in Mexico will be. If possible spend time in Mexico during the rainy season. This will allow you to find out how you will cope with the humidity and daily downpours.
Mexico has a reputation of being an unsafe country, full of drug cartels and bandits. While there are places you should avoid, this is the case anywhere in the world. In the big cities, major expat and tourist areas most people speak English. If you move here you can get by without learning Spanish and be comfortable. City surveillance equipment goes up in Cozumel

The installation of antennas and wireless cameras have begun around Cozumel in a bid to monitor high-risk areas.

José Vázquez Pech, City Council Systems Director, says that the installation of the first 46 cameras will be complete by the end of the year. He says that the antennas and cameras recently arrived, as did the team required to install the equipment.

As announced by Municipal President, Pedro Joaquín Delbouis, the installation of the cameras will go toward helping improve security on the island and continue to reduce the crime rate.

Vázquez Pech explained that they had been working for awhile on the electrical installations in areas where the equipment is required, and now with the arrival of equipment, the placement of the wireless antennas on the poles has begun. He adds that eventually, they will also have license plate and face detection abilities. Read more>>>

PROCESS TO GET YOUR TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY IN MEXICO:

In the States you have to go to the nearest Mexican Consulate and apply for a VISA.  

 

Steps to follow to apply for Mexico Visa
  1. Step 1: Download the visa application form. ...
  2. Step 2: Fill up the visa application form. ...
  3. Step 3: Gather the required documents for visa application. ...
  4. Step 4: Provide photograph for your visa application. ...
  5. Step 5: Check the visa application fee.
  6. Turn this in at your Mexican Consulate and bring what they give you back to Mexico Immigration.

 

 

Once in Mexico, the process is currently taking between two to two and a half months once you bring this information to Mexican Immigration to get your card.
Once Immigration receives the file then
 we have to wait around 5 weeks for a verification of data, 
Then another 1 week to schedule the appointment of fingerprints and signatures 
and another 2 weeks to physically receive the credential (Immigration card)

It's important to mention you can obtain a permit to leave the country
(Valid for 60 days) ......and then continue the process of your file from your country.

One of the largest tourism investments in 30 years announced for Cancun

 

 

“As a sign of the international investor’s confidence in our country, the Grand Island Cancun project will become a reality in Quintana Roo, this is one of the largest investments of the last 30 years in the region”, said Federal Tourism Secretary Miguel Torruco Marqués.

According to the official, the three thousand-room project, with an investment of one billion dollars wil be carried out in two phases, and phase one will be fully operational by the year 2022. The second phase of Grand Island Cancun, is expected to begin operations in 2024, and the project will be financed by Bancomext and two foreign banks that reiterated their interest in investing in Mexico.

The project will allow the creation of 7,500 direct jobs during the contruction phase, and 20 thousand direct and indirect jobs once the project starts operating.
