Cozumel, Quintana Roo, returns to lead the cruise industry in Mexico and South America

The general director of the Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO), Alicia Ricalde Magaña, reported that for the second consecutive year, Cozumel was recognized as the leading cruise port in Mexico and South America, in the twenty-fifth installment of the World Travel Awards.

The official explained that the recognition once again granted to the island of Cozumel, tourist destination that from January to August this year received 865 cruises with a total of 2,861,237 passengers, reaffirms its leadership in the cruise industry in Mexico and the region.

"Cozumel is one of the best destinations in cruise reception, not only in the area, but also in the world, which allows better opportunities of economic growth for the state of Quintana Roo. ”

‘Biker Fest’ comes to Cozumel

October 12 to 14

The second half of September, the month of October and November are considered as “low season” for the tourism industry in the state of Quintana Roo, so in an effort to help the families of Cozumel who depend on this activity, the Brotherhood Motorcycle Club organizes the fourth edition of the “Biker Fest”, an event that aims to gather more than 3,000 fans from Mexico and Central America, taking advantage of the fact that 70% of them travel accompanied.

“It will take place from October 12 to 14 at Parque Andrés Quintana Roo. The official opening party that will kick off the Fest will be held on Friday October 12 (the motorcyclists will start arriving on Thursday though), and on Saturday morning the traditional breakfast of cochinita pibil will take place with the participation of all cyclists”said Carlos Carrillo Castillo, president of the event.

A Harley Davidson stand will be open, two motorcycles will be raffled, and all participants will have to chance to win through the purchase of their kit, which consists of ticket, shirt, bandana, pin, patch and a 20% at a sponsor restaurant.

For the Day of the Dead special altars are designed using flowers, candles, and food. These altars are displayed in hotels, restaurants, and other public places as well as in private homes. Bakeries on the island get filled with traditional sweets, typically in shapes of skulls and flowers. Cemeteries receive huge amounts of flowers; the most popular are the famous marigold flowers or flores de cempasuchil, which represent the death.
