Officials from the National Fund
for Tourism Promotion tour Cancun, Cozumel

The marketing director of the National Fund for Tourism Promotion made a visit to Cancun and Cozumel to follow up on marketing strategies including development land and lots for sale. Martin Merino Westphal, accompanied by the regional delegate in Quintana Roo, Juan Emmanuel González Castelán, toured Playa Langosta, Kilómetro Cero Park, Plaza La Isla and the area of Lomas de Vista Hermosa.

Merino Westphal said that 15 lots are for sale in Lomas de Vista Hermosa at the entrance of Cancun, next to Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, where the fund has a land reserve of 8.5 hectares. He commented that the sale of 15 lots with a privileged location in the project Lomas de Vista Hermosa “with Tajamar, would detonate the downtown area”. “The visit served to review the different investment opportunities we have and to see the properties that are already being developed for boutique apartments” explained regional delegate González Castelán.

In Cozumel they visited Marina Fonatur where 25 lots are being promoted for sale. They also toured developing projects. The delegate said that several owners of lots are in the process of approving construction projects, and estimated that for the month of November, they expect to begin investments, which would motivate more entrepreneurs to focus on the island, creating more benefits for the destination.

Tall ships arrive to island of
Cozumel during 157-day voyage

Mexico’s school-ship Cuauhtémoc also participates in the annual event, which is sailed by members of the Navy of Mexico. The tall ships will set sail again Thursday from the island of Cozumel and head to Veracruz where they will dock from August 27 until September 2.

The Festival Velas Isla Cozumel 2018 finishes in Cozumel on August 23 and has become a huge attraction for locals and tourists alike. The captains and their crew set sail for the 157-day journey, covering more than 12 thousand nautical miles of Latin American coasts.



Mexican Independence Day in Cozumel
September 16th

Independence Day in Cozumel is a spectacle not to be missed! Mexican Independence Day is the most important national holiday of the year for the Mexican people. On the night of September 15, residents and visitors come to City Hall, as they do in all the cities around Mexico, to participate in the traditional cry for independence, Viva Mexico known as ´El Grito! At midnight they enjoy a fireworks display, folk dancing, music and stalls selling all kinds of fabulous Mexican food such as ´esquites´, ´marquesitas´´tamales´and lots of other delicacies.

On the actual Independence Day, September 16, there is a parade through Cozumel’s downtown and along the waterfront. All throughout the week, residents and visitors are invited to visit the fair near the City Hall that includes food stands, games, dancing and shopping. Its a must for all the family to enjoy!
