Cozumel Living Supports Beach Clean-up efforts, Update on the January 9th Trashy Little Event:

January 9th dawned sunny and clear for
over 50 volunteers of the Trashy Little Group. The Cozumel Living Real Estate team joined in and helped comb the beaches on the east side of the island to collect an astounding 64.5 large bags of trash from the shores of Cozumel. Our mission began around 9:30 just south of Mezcalitos, with other members also picking up trashy pockets along other various locations of their choosing.

"Cozumelenos in general feel a strong bond to the natural beauty and habitat that feeds our desire to live here. To see that deteriorate due to the growing nuisance of trash piling up along our beautiful beaches, is disturbing on many levels to most of the people I know." explains Kathy Watts, the group's founder. "It's easy to see why the Trashy Little Group resonates with so many islanders, and visitors as well. We love this place, and want it to stay the pristine treasure that it is."

Speaking of treasure...during the Trashy Little Event, two valuable prizes were hidden along the route of the clean up. Lynn Ellinghuysen and Gwen Gregory had no idea what awaited them when they each stumbled upon a decorative sphere containing a prize for supporting the Trashy Little Group! Each Trashy Lady found a sterling silver turtle on a silver necklace to enjoy as their gift. I wonder what the prizes will be next month???? Join the group event in February, and maybe you'll be among the next lucky winners.

Following the event, the hungry volunteers enjoyed a huge Sunday Brunch with all the trimmings, including Nancy's especially tasty jello shots! Yum. I think a Jello shot Trashy Little cookbook may be in order. Special thanks to all the wonderful cooks contributing to the meal, and especially to the clean up crew for washing all those dishes! An event is being planned once a month, and it is a really fun way to spend a morning. Join the Trashy Little Group for upcoming February event details.
