This event also provides an opportunity to test new equipment and helps you to decide whether to choose new or to upgrade your underwater camera and housing. It is an opportunity to meet old friends, make new friends, and to have photos critiqued by a professional underwater photographer.

March 15th marked the day for the March Trashy Event. Peso loans at all time low!

Either the Mexican government’s new policies on boosting the economy are at work OR it’s a coincidence that Peso loan rates have fallen to an all time low. It is now possible for Local residents and in some cases foreign residents to obtain a peso based mortgage at rates starting at 8.49%. This may seem high in comparison to the US & Canada, but to put things in perspective, many individuals who have peso loans currently are at rates ranging from 11% - 13%. Typically the longest term allowed here in Mexico is 20yrs and interestingly, if the borrower is over the age of 55, they will only qualify for a 15yr loan as Mexican banks do not like the age of the borrower plus the life of the loan to exceed 75yrs. For those in the know, this is similar to Scotiabank's policies back in the day when they offered USD loans which ended last year May. If you or anyone you know has a peso mortgage, the time to refinance is now.
**Dollar mortgages collateralizing US & Canadian Real Estate**
Clients looking to cash out of their properties up north in order to fund their Mexico purchases can still do so at historically low rates. For cash out transactions, interest rates in the USA remain in the mid 3%’s to the mid 4%’s and the Canadian market is much the same, if not a little lower. At this point in time, this is the best option for clients looking to finance their Mexico purchases. Loans fund quickly, closing costs are low and it puts them in a cash position for their new purchase adding leverage to their negotiating power.
