The National Commission of Natural Protected Areas says that as of Sunday, two reef areas on the south side of the island will be reopened for tourist service providers.
La Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (Conanp) says that the reef areas of Palancar and Colombia will be reopened, but with conditions for service providers. Brenda Hernández Hernández, head of Conanp Cozumel, announced the partial reopening of two of the three reef areas that had been closed as a measure of protection against the advancement of white syndrome.
Hernández noted that the reef area of El Cielo, one of the most popular, will remain closed until March.
She explained that they do not want to have these reef areas return to the state they were in before, adding that beginning April, there will be a rotation of reef areas open for diving in order to allow the reefs to recuperate. She says there will be a calendar of which reefs are open and when, adding that the dates will be agreed upon by the Conanp advisory council and the tourist sub-council.
In a statement, Conanp says “For August and September 2020, we will return to the suspension of aquatic-recreational activities in the Colombia reef and the sites of Ladrillos and Cuevones of the Palancar reef system including El Cielo. Hurricane season ends peacefully for 2019
With the official ending of the Riviera Maya hurricane season for 2019, state civil protection report an active but uneventful season for Mexico’s Caribbean Sea region.
Adrián Martínez Ortega, State Civil Protection Coordinator says that with the official ending of the season on November 30, the state of Quintana Roo was not affected by any storms. He reports a total of 20 storms being counted in Atlantic waters, none of which affected the state and thus, not requiring an Early Warning System for Tropical Cyclones alert.
He says the general population was informed of passing storms regarding their evolution, trajectory and characteristics, but not any reached the coast as in previous years. This is Riviera Maya’s 14th season without a hurricane. Read more>>>
Ultramar water taxi service for Cozumel to begin in December
An executive of Ultramar says it will begin its water taxi service to the center of Cozumel starting December.
Arturo Báez Vega says Ultramar will begin with two 150-passenger boats that will be used to transport cruise ship passengers to access the city center. “It is a transportation service between the cruise ship docks and the center of Cozumel,” says Báez Vega. “We plan to start operations in December with the start of the high season. They will be two units that will leave the pier of Puerta Maya and SSA to the pier of the center of Cozumel. They are 150 passenger vessels,” he added.
He explained that “In the forum, a study based on information that the FCCA gave us shows an economic increase could be generated for the center of Cozumel from $250,000 USD to $600,000 if we were able to transport 3,500 passengers.”
The service will be round trip, he noted, saying the cost will be $8 USD.
“Transferring 3,500 tourists, which is feasible on a day full of cruises, would be practically impossible to do in taxis,” he said adding that “Land and water transport can work harmoniously.” Read more>>>

Steps to follow to apply for Mexico Visa

- Step 4: Provide photograph for your visa application. ...
- Step 5: Check the visa application fee.
- Turn this in at your Mexican Consulate and bring what they give you back to Mexico Immigration.
Once in Mexico, the process is currently taking between two to two and a half months once you bring this information to Mexican Immigration to get your card.
Once Immigration receives the file then we have to wait around 5 weeks for a verification of data,Then another 1 week to schedule the appointment of fingerprints and signaturesand another 2 weeks to physically receive the credential (Immigration card)
It's important to mention you can obtain a permit to leave the country
(Valid for 60 days) ......and then continue the process of your file from your country.
Navy rescues boat of four off island of Cozumel
The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico says that on Tuesday, four people were rescued from waters off the island of Cozumel.
La Secretaría de Marina-Armada de México reports the rescue of the boat carrying four approximately three nautical miles (5.5 kilometers) from the island of Cozumel. The rescue was made after receiving an emergency call that a vessel named La Santa with a crew of four had sailed from Cozumel to fish, but began drifting when they experienced engine failure.
Members of the navy implemented a Search and Rescue Operation immediately deploying their vessel from the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station of Cozumel in search of the drifting La Santa.
They were located and towed back to the island. All four crew members were reported to be in good health.
