COZUMEL PLASTIC RECYCLING INITIATIVE



A young group of businessmen in Cozumel have started a plastic recycling initiative believing very strongly that now is the time to act.

"We ask all of you who love Cozumel as we do to join us in a public interest project that will guarantee the future sustainability of the environment
in which we live. Our group has watched the business of recycling growing in other parts of the world but so far Cozumel is left behind.
Our objective is the recuperation, commercialization and transportation of non-recyclable garbage and we hope you will join us in this enterprise.
We also seek to reduce the amount of plastic left overs that are thrown in the trash and find their way to our landfill each and every day.
For this we ask you who live here and love the island for help. We have the equipment necessary to compress plastic containers. If you will collect a
minimum of 3 large bags worth, just call us at 987 118-2393 or email: reciclacozumel@hotmail.com and we will come and pick them up for you.
Or if you like, you can drop them by our new facility which is located at the corner of 55 Bis and Calle 5 Sur."

We can handle the following types of plastic:
PET containers ( water, refreshment bottles and some types of cleaning solution
PEAD containers ( chlorine containers, shampoo, fabric softeners, etc.)

Please be sure the containers have no food residue and are emptied well. Squash them and put on the tops if applicable before depositing them in your
collection bag or other container. We hope that we can count on your help in moving ahead to actually DO something. So pass the word to everyone
you know and please work with us! Side by side, we CAN make a difference.

Venturing off the island for business or pleasure wasn't as good until now. After a long hot day of handling business with colleagues, hunting down
some mainland essentials, and then realizing the next ferry back to Cozumel was two hours away Cuba-cool came to the rescue.

Modelled after the original landmark in Old Havana, Cuba, La Bodeguita Del Medio - Playa del Carmen offers very little to be refused. The atmosphere
and décor is just like Havana. You can scrawl on the wall, ceiling, lamps, or where ever else you can think of, just like those before you. There is seating at
the bar, in the dinning room where there is live music, and on the lovely outdoor patio. Upstairs is a small mezzanine with quaint seating that looks out onto
the main floor. There is also a small Cuban gift shop attached.

The food was delicious, authentic, and the happy hour prices simply unbeatable!!! A few of our favorites: 39 pesos ($3) for shrimp
(Camarones) prepared in 3 different sauce choices, 25 pesos ($2) for roast beef (Ropa Vieja), and just 6 pesos ($.49 cents) for balck beans & rice
(Moros y Christianos). Do not forget to try their authentic and fabulously refreshing Mojito; the national beverage of Cuba.
